200<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary of the birth of the Bab, the Herald of the Baha\u2019i Faith.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The festivities culminated in thousands of celebrations taking place in Australia and throughout the world on 28-30 October.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Born in 1819, <a href=\"https:\/\/bahai.org.au\/index.php\/the-bahai-faith\/who-is-the-bab\/\">the Bab<\/a> was a prophetic figure who revitalised religious teachings, calling for spiritual and moral renewal including improving the status of women and the situation of the poor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">He gained thousands of followers before being put to death in 1850.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Bab\u2019s mission was to prepare the way for Baha\u2019u\u2019llah, the prophet and founder of the Baha\u2019i Faith.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The transformative power of the teachings the Bab foretold is reflected in Baha\u2019i activities today, which seek to contribute towards a vibrant and inclusive community based on the principle of the oneness of humanity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Because the Bab and Baha\u2019u\u2019llah were born on successive days, two years apart, their births are celebrated each year as consecutive or \u2018twin\u2019 holy days.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2017 we celebrated the <a href=\"https:\/\/bahai.org.au\/index.php\/australian-bahai-community\/bicentenary\/\">bicentenary of the birth of Baha\u2019u\u2019llah<\/a>.
