neighbourhood community development activities designed to foster spiritually vibrant communities and open to all regardless of faith or background. These endeavours include providing spiritual empowerment programs for junior youth aged 11-14, spiritual education classes for children, gatherings that strengthen the devotional life of the community, and study circles on spiritual themes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"intro\">Baha&#8217;i local community bodies, known as Local Spiritual Assemblies, currently operate in the municipalities of Clarence, Glenorchy, Hobart, Kingborough, Launceston and West Tamar. There are Baha&#8217;is living in other centres in Tasmania as well.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"intro\">In Hobart the Baha\u2019i community has become well known through the operation of the Baha\u2019i Centre of Learning for Tasmania, which was officially opened by the then Governor Peter Underwood in 2009. An educational institution established for the benefit of the people of Tasmania, the Centre also provides a model of sustainable building practices as well as hosting regular community events. One of these is Soul Food, a reflective and devotional gathering featuring live performers, inspiring themes and discussions. Open to all, it is held on the first Sunday of every month at 3 pm.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"intro\">The Baha\u2019i Faith arrived in Tasmania in 1924 when Clara and Hyde Dunn, who had brought Baha&#8217;u&#8217;llah&#8217;s message to Australia, spent three months in Hobart, together with two Melbourne Baha\u2019is. Their visit attracted a small number of individuals to the Baha\u2019i Faith, the first of whom was a nurse, Gretta Lamprill. She was gradually joined by others in Hobart, Launceston and Devonport.
